Since the change of federal government in 2022, hashtag#Australia has set in place an ambitious plan to roll out renewable energy. Currently generating between 30 and 35 percent of its power from renewable sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower, the country is boldly targeting 82 percent by 2030.
This is nothing short of a green revolution and the challenge is to get as many renewable projects through planning and into operation, as quickly as possible. The Australian magazine publishes an annual list of 100 Green Power Players who are actively driving the change from within the private sector.
Our very own Peter Wheale, General Manager of Australia, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand has been listed by Australia’s largest and most-read magazine for this honor, a well-deserved acknowledgment of his work in this space. See the full list, here: https://lnkd.in/g4CsHkvV
Pete’s impact is well known across the industry – his passion for hashtag#solar carries in everything he does. A born networker, he connects people, creates opportunities and brings the right people together to make things happen. He sees opportunities where others see roadblocks, and it is this approach that has established a winning culture within the Nextracker Inc. team in Australia.
After establishing Nextracker’s Distributed Generation business unit in 2015, Pete saw an opportunity in Australia and moved from California to open our Australian office in Manly (aka “solar beach”) in 2016. He quickly won projects and set up an expert local team to provide end-to-end project support. Nextracker has maintained the leading market position in Australia since entering the market, surpassing 6.5 GW and over 120 projects operational or under fulfillment this year.
Pete has expanded Nextracker’s presence in the region to Southeast Asia and New Zealand. Here’s a wonderful video summary of what Pete and his team have accomplished: https://lnkd.in/g93gN7k3
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Pete on this acknowledgment and thank you for your tireless dedication and commitment to Nextracker and to the renewables industry at large. We look forward to continuing to contribute to Australia reaching its clean energy targets, together with our industry peers.
